Lately, I’ve been starting a lot of my pieces the same way: a coat of gesso with text pages mashed into it. Here’s how that works:
Although I use mostly dictionary pages and foreign text, there’s no reason you can’t roll whatever paper ephemera you wish into the wet gesso.
